Diabetes Education Session 1

Time: 9:30 AM- 12:30 PM (MST)
Location: Fort Meade Primary Care Waiting Room 2

Our ongoing diabetes education classes are taught by dietitians who are certified diabetes educators. The free classes are designed to assist you with developing diabetes knowledge and self-management skills as well as helping with behavior change. In addition, these classes give you the opportunity to expand your support network and to learn from others who are also living with diabetes. Our small class sizes allow for supportive group interaction. The content in the classes is specified by the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.
The series is made up of two classes.  Attend session 1 first, followed by session 2.  You do not need to attend both in the same month.  Choose the dates convenient for you

Weekly Meditation from Home
Yoga nidra(yoga sleep) is a spoken word guided meditation that promotes a sense of deep calm while enhancing awareness. The meditation class follows the 10 stage iRest™ protocol. During class Veterans:
?Discover a heartfelt mission & purpose and establish a goal for the meditation
?Establish and connect with an inner "safe haven"
?Explore the connection between body sensations, emotions, thoughts and beliefs with an awareness of how thoughts and emotions affect the body and mind
?Learn to experience an inner joy and develop an awareness of, and access to, one's own sense of well-being
?Connect with an inner strength & resiliency in order to more appropriately "respond" rather than "react" to situations in life
Veterans may also benefit from the restful sleep-like state achieved during the meditation
