Wildfire Season

Monday, August 15, 2011

Wildfire season is upon us. Smoke from wildfires is a mixture of gases and fine particles from burning trees and other plant materials. Smoke can hurt your eyes, irritate your respiratory system, and worsen chronic heart and lung diseases. Know whether you are at risk and protect yourself.

For more information visit:  http://www.bt.cdc.gov/disasters/wildfires/

As a Veteran,  call 911 if emergent. If you experience any smoke related health care issues contact VA Black Hills Health Care System at:  Hot Springs (800-764-5370) or Fort Meade at (800-743-1070) or contact your health care team at the VA.
