VA Black Hills Health Care System (BHHCS) to host Veteran Stand Down
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Black Hills Health Care System (BHHCS) will host a Veteran Stand Down for Veterans and their families. The event will be held on July 25, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Rosebud Sioux Tribal Nation Veteran Affairs Building in Rosebud, SD.
The focus of the Stand Down is to reach out to Veterans who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness. “We are bringing together several community partners and VA departments to be on hand to help Veterans access a broad range of specialized resources and housing solutions aimed at breaking the destructive cycle of homelessness”, said Bill Fahrenbruck, Health Care Coordinator for Homeless Veterans, VA BHHCS, “A Stand Down is a great outreach opportunity to connect Veterans to the wide-ranging services and the benefits they’ve earned and deserve.”
Veterans will find useful information, on-the-spot supportive services, and a variety of supplies. Veterans can ask questions and receive immediate assistance on VA benefits, special programs, legal assistance, and health care enrollment. All Veterans are invited to attend and there is no charge for any of the services provided. Veterans who have not previously enrolled with the VA are requested to bring a copy of their military discharge papers, DD 214, to the Stand Down.
