Urgent Care
New community provider added as a resource for Urgent Care benefit!
Through the MISSION Act of 2018, VA offered an urgent care benefit that provides eligible Veterans with greater choice and access to timely, high-quality care. The Urgent Care benefit met the need for a quick trip to a conveniently located community walk-in clinic or urgent care facility as an alternative for minor injuries and illnesses.
VA Black Hills Health Care System is happy to announce Fall River Health Services has been added as a contracted community provider. As of May 21, 2020, eligible Veterans may choose to use the urgent care benefit at Fall River Health Services located at 1201 Highway 71 in Hot Springs.
This is an important change because Veterans must receive urgent care from a provider that is part of VA’s contracted network of community providers. VA can pay for an urgent care claim, without VA preauthorization, only if the Veteran is eligible for the benefit; the urgent care provider is part of VA’s contracted network of community providers; and the services are not excluded under the benefit (excluded services include preventive services and dental services). The benefit allows three free visits per year with a co-pay for visits beyond three.
Veterans can learn more about the Urgent Care benefit on https://www.va.gov/COMMUNITYCARE/programs/veterans/Urgent_Care.asp.
