VA Black Hills Health Care System
Patient Router Slips
Once upon a time, not so very long ago, coming to an appointment at VA Black Hills Health Care System also meant getting yet another piece of government paperwork. But no longer. Paper Routing slips are now a thing of the past.
To better serve you, the Fort Meade and Hot Springs facilities stopped issuing "Patient Routers" in 2010. Hot Springs piloted the program with great success mid-year, and Ft. Meade joined in at the end of 2010.
Why the change? It saves both time and paper for Veterans and employees. Did you know that each Patient Router slip was handled an average of 5 times from printer to patient?
Or that at the Ft. Meade facility alone, printing routers resulted in approximately 1 ½ reams of paper being shredded or repurposed/recycled each day. That's an average of 750 sheets of paper each day just at Fort Meade!
So, how do you find out where you need to go for your appoinment? Your Appoinment Letter will contain the information you need. Make sure you bring it with you when you come. Our staff and volunteers are available to help you find your way. When you check in, you'll be given verbal instructions and other assistance as needed. We're also working on improving the signs at both facilities to make it easier to reach your destination.
Remember: Please bring your Appointment Letter with you when you come in for an appointment. It contains the information you'll need for your appoinments that day.
