Jeans For Vets Drive
Kiwanis Veterans Day "Jeans for Vets" Drive
A very special thank you to the Sturgis Kiwanis for inviting me to speak on behalf of VA Black Hills Health Care System to promote the "Jeans for Vets" drive.
Lisa Quenzer-Coolley (center) contacted the Volunteer Office at Ft. Meade requesting to set up a jean drive on behalf of her mother’s request. Lisa said that her mother, Ione Quenzer, told her that she knew of the need for jeans for the Veterans. Lisa, a Satellite Kiwanis' member, decided to present the request at a meeting and invited Kim Matz (left) from Voluntary Services to assist with the presentation.
The members were very excited about the opportunity to do this for our Nation's Heroes!! Sharon Scudder (right) said that she would help with contacting local area businesses, banks, and credit union to see if they would allow boxes to be placed for a drop off site and then Kiwanis would pick up the day after Veterans Day. Sharon also prepared public service announcements and contacted local radio stations to help "spread the word"!
So, on behalf of VA Black Hills Health Care System, we would LOVE to thank the area residents of Sturgis, SD, businesses, and Kiwanis members for organizing this wonderful event!
Thank You All!!
